The best TV right now, 30 March 2010
By Corey Fisher (Las Vegas, Nevada USA)
This TV is absolutely breathtaking. I waited actually on the C9000 to come but the TV price is way over the line. I found out that this TV is the next step down and actually has the exact same technology as C9000 minus the touchscreen remote (which can be purchased separately) and slim profile, no big deal, that in the face already sees the TV nice and is half of the price or less then a C9000!

Quite frankly, I think this TV has one of the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. An example is the pin no dimming, which has a lot of dance journalists and Skeptisism collected. I've seen, the production of TV model life and I must say you, I think it's better, then local Dim and I'll tell you why... Unless there is a new Panel is formed to the local dimming "halo effect" to fix, this is currently the only way to Outradgeous contrast levels without that problem. The PIN number dimming on this TV dramatically lowers the dark spots on the screen in specific area without a Halo affect and actually pitch goes completely black when watching movies with dark screens just like a local dimming TV. I think this TV really excels at the dimming part about a local dimming TV because it creates Supurb black levels without any Halo affects. This is a big deal for me. Next is the color accuracy this body, I think that white and colors on this TV are probably better then I've ever seen. Plasma's sometimes better colour temperatures have secured a can, but will not pop out of the screen with ambience as these TV shows. This TV is sharp looking and nice and it shows wonderful 3D and high-definition like never before.

Last, but not least... this tv is loaded with features, make it easy to one which is the most feature of rich TV on the market. It is totally wireless, has 4 HDMI connections, Internet applications and streaming features and best yet, it is good! I have done a lot of research and have this TV compared his latest competitors, and this is it. Just take my word for it to see it for yourself, go and see just what I'm talking about.

Surprising clarity, detail and color, May 31, 2009
By Mike (Orange County CA)

Had my Samsung UN55B8000 TV a few weeks now. It has more than lived up to the hype. Hooked it up and put on a Blu-ray disc. The delivery guy's pine abandoned and supplied / set hundreds of TV.

TV is only half dick and only weighs 60 pounds or so.

It is in fact, sometimes almost too good. When you view people on HD, you can see every little Mole, scar, wrinkles, stray hair, make-up, five O' clock shadow, makeup line, etc.. I'm sitting here watching the news and I can clearly see little bits of lint on the guy's black suit. I guess the talking of heads are tomorrow to have much better colour all go.

If you want to tweak to your TV this one offers a lot of various controls. There are already some sites who consider what tweaks good to maximize the PIC. You can for the B7000 tweaks search. Looks damn fantastic right out of the box so take care if you not a techie, not a question.

Soundsnicht particularly good or bad, but I will not TV speakers, space anyway. If you're going to spend that kind of money for a television, use your stereo system.

Some reviewers complained about the number of inputs. Again, how many is enough. I run my PS3, Xbox360, IPOD and the dish field by my Denon and so I use a HDMI.

You can connect it to the Internet. No set-up, easy plug in. First thing it did was 12 updates download. Have no idea what you were doing but... no problem. It automatically loads some Yahoo widgets. Fun... but not try something, what I really gone and back much used. Also has some content... built, recipes, artwork, etc., I have not bothered to look at.

You can view plug in USB drives and content directly from the drive.

I got rid of long ago my roof antenna. I bought a small Turk indoor antenna and plugged in so I can pop over wireless signals and television. It will automatically search and find the on air channels. It loads a kind of TV Guide from the Internet for the channels that it finds.

I also wanted to see if it was the signal from dish degradation. I noticed the HD deterioration with dish, the I with Comcast. The manner, Comcast HD packaged signals you could see a real difference between OTA and packed images.

Samsung offers software that allows you to use your PC as a server. Then your pictures, music, view etc. on your TV. Took a little playing around but was easy compared to some of the others I've tried to use.

I have played games with my PS3 and the Xbox360. No problems. No pixelating. Bothered TV game mode switch. I have deceived with 240 Hz function to. I leave it on standard.

I am sure there are other features I have not tried. With the ability to update itself via the Internet, I have no doubt, be it even more amazing tricks to teach.

I got my Harmony 880 per set up to control all my devices including the IPOD. IPOD menu/Info appears on the TV screen (through my Denon).

All of the above features are great, but the main thing is... the picture is just absolutely mind-blowing wonderfully.

So, fantastic TV. I am very happy with it. Obviously, I recommend it.

Panasonic TC P50S2 review by plasma TV buying guide, May 17, 2010
By LCDTVBuyingGuide (Atlanta, GA)
1080p HD picture quality: the picture presentation of the from the 50S2 is still very bright and much improved with the improved black levels. Black levels are deep and strong with an HD signal input through HDMI. While not the best we've seen lately, they loose can display with a 480i signal the dark gray haziness that the S2. Color is plenty saturated and dark shadow detail remains excellent.

Picture presentation from 480i signal: we always test every TV with a 480i resolution. It is a great test of a TV upconversion and processing chip sets. The signal may be likened to what you would see with your normal digital cable or satellite signal. The TC P50S2 series plasma contains the new an updated version of the NEO PDP (i.e. plasma screen) from Panasonic. This is the screen same used in some of the higher end Panasonic series which should make this model a good value if picture quality is your primary objective. We find the picture quality overall improved from the prior S1 series. The drives do a little better job of eliminating motion artifacts than the S1 series did. Color rendition is still progress with black levels being the primary area of the S2 series delivering more depth and solidity. As was the case on the S1 series, brightness is a strength of the these newer Panasonic plasma models.

Calibration notes: Overall, calibration to D6500K what very easy with this TV. Though there are no white balance adjustments available on the menu without entering the service menu, the 50S2 calibrated so close to D65 from the start that it would have improved the TV inappreciably. We started our calibration from the custom setting in the warm temperature 2 color position. The S2 series TV does not contain the THX picture setting option. Follow the following settings to calibrate to a nearly perfect D65. These picture settings are best viewed in a controlled light environment fairly dark room:

Picture mode: Custom
Color temp: Warm2
Brightness: + 74
Contrast: + 75
Color: + 45
Tint:-2
Sharpness: + 15
Color Mgmt: OFF
•x.v.colour: OFF
C.A.T.S.: OFF
Video NR: Weak
Block NR: Off
Misquito NR: Off
Black level: Light
3: 2 Pulldown: Off
HD size: 2

Black level/contrast: black levels were an area that the S1 series needed a makeover on. They got it with this s2 series. These are not going to be the best black levels we see this year and we don't anticipate them coming close to some of the Samsung plasma black levels. However, Panasonic has brought black levels focus welcomed back into. Final ANSI contrast measurement what 1261: 1 which is a nice improvement over last year but far from what we want. One of the TVs greatest strengths lies in its white brightness which measured on average luminance of 31.50. This result nears LCD TVs in brightness and points to Panasonic's desire to compete with LCD TVs in this area.

Dark shadow detail: partly due to the high brightness of this plasma dark shadow detail is excellent. Panasonic plasma TVs have long been a favorite of ours in this important area.

Color rendition/color accuracy: Color rendition is much more saturated with HD content. The TV excels with HD content and is much more subdued in presentation with lower signals. Colors can seem a little weak and hazy at times with lower end signals. I will give them the thumbs up on reality however.

Features: One of the key feature by Panasonic is from Scythe differences of the S2 series with the G20 series of plasma the of the Viera cast feature set, which enables online content via a web interface. As a result, there is therefore no Ethernet port. The included VIERA link feature allows the user to control other VIERA link capable outboard equipment. Viera image viewer is the Panasonic compatible technology which enables use of SD memory card viewing via the SD card slot. The S2 has discrete picture settings for each input as well as Panasonic's new "600 Hz" specification for blur reduction.

This TV is energy star compliant due to energy saver feature option to. Power consumption for the S2 has been reduced from the S1. This is one of the main feature differences aside from improved black levels. Panasonic started improving efficiency in their plasma TVs in 2007 and have improved it 400% with this s2 model. They are now close enough to LCDs in energy efficiency that is should not matter.

Enjoy TV, nice picture, great features, June 7, 2010
By Ferk V (Fort Worth, TX)
TV is great for the type (LCD) and price. The image is bright, good contrast and very smooth. The menu/remote are very comfortable... overall the image is very nice. Aesthetically, the TV looks great features or decorations and... no cheesy. This is my first LG product and I am very pleased with this set. Also added the wireless adapter ($70). The entire facility and interfaces are very intuitive. This is a children's TV and had Netflix down quickly (even 5 years old). My only wish would be a backlit remote control.

The only downside is all over with shipping. It has been delivered not just in time and there was no communication by the shipping company. Finally I had contact the sender to make an appointment (found that contacted you would). Once I called you, it crossed the next day (Saturday). All in all still very happy.

Bought this TV for the bedroom. It has a fantastic picture and sound quality. A great feature is the automatic image adjustment based on ambient room lighting, saves having to mess around with the image if table lamp page flip. The color of factory presets actually support the intended display, example: cinema setting more looks like film.

The only thing this set does not have that I would have is an IP/Ethernet port. Otherwise, I am very happy. Many HDMI ports to.

very nice, June 5, 2009
By Bryan Piereson "BRP" (Los Angeles, CA)

Consumer reports has this set not yet rated. Their current top rated set is the Samsung ln650 that good, has minor defects, such as "3 ball effect" (tennis, football), different shade of green on football fields, when comparing the line of scrimmage versus either side, and some Smudginess.

I see nothing of it with UN46B8000, I bought last week. Time lapse is excellent. White, is black is black and red and blues are beautiful. Clarity is excellent. Once in a while, I have seen intense yellow and green tones where have I wondered if it was an accurate representation, but I have made no adjustments. But it's hard to get all these qualities, especially white in plasma. I am not a professional, just my observations on the basis of a few months of shopping.

My opinion is that plasma it's lost advantage, especially when you consider power consumption. Only advantage is Plasmas price now, but this should change over the course of time.

The only problem with the un46b800 I've had is that occasionally jumps the backlight setting. C/net mentioned this, I think. Yet, I am very pleased with this set.

Nice LCD TV for the kitchen, July 17, 2010
By A. Le (Kingwood, TX.) (United States)
I bought this TV LCD/DVD combo for my wife, so you can your movies on DVD in the kitchen and loves it. It's just the right size and weight are moved, show to suit your needs. The speakers are very loud for this unit and sometimes I have to it to make it a bit to say down. The image quality is good but not as good as my Sony BRAVIA unit. The colors seem not so rich, but my wife said you don't notice any difference. Given, so I gave it 5 stars. I don't know about the longevity of Toshiba. I have mainly own Sony TV. If there are problems, I will keep you posted. BTW, it was to no dead pixels which is great. Since the price is a good deal.

LG LH55 42 "240 Hz TV: simply awesome, July 31, 2009"
By bookwurm
First, I would note way that CNET much too critical with their reviews and I'm so glad I went to look at this tv at BestBuy instead of just trust its review. I don't think you might find a better tv for only 1140.00

To start off angle is fine, if you than 15 "and display of only 6" back living room, you will be fine wide.

The remote control that comes with the tv is so wonderfully simple I mean mother it would trust to use. Summary 2 simple buttons this ease of use (input and Avmode). The keys are good not only disks, but the resulting pop-ups make very clear it, what you're doing.

Connecting the tv was incredible. The inputs are very easy to reach without the tv move sideways. Apart from the available page entries are also easy to plug - in.

A feature I wish, had the tv was AVI/mp4 playback. Though it has USB functionality, the tv is only capable of loading images and (music? can't remember)
-This should not deter, can you as a super low price makes it a good option to buy a PlayStation 3 with this TV, and one that I chose to do given that add the PS3 means play from USB, video, see wireless tv and stream shared files from your computer, all in all an important victory, especially since that holds two combined price under the midrange Samsung with Internet plus you get the added BlueRay and upscaling bonus.

As far as quality goes, I had the chance to see games at 720 and 1080 HDTV, DVD, owned and PS3. I felt very good about my purchase the results of this examination. Although I sure that am PS3's ability to upscale played looking for a role in DVD superb, I have to say that Tony Soprano, looked like it in the living room. I saw Princess Mononoke, quantity of fog / type scenes (swirling many greys) and to my surprise, no noise, artifacts, nothing. I got from the couch and status of 4 inches from the TV and couldn't believe that picture was so good for only 1100.

Gaming is excellent. I really like the games mode (and I recommend the AV mode press and function). I tried Metal Gear Solid 4, Killzone 2, Ratchet and Clank and LEGO starwars. Colors were although not as vibrant as perhaps the 2700 $Samsung nevertheless incredible and lively.

The sound on the TV is large and LOUD. I think it 14-20 (the tv goes up to 100).
Still, I decided to use my surround sound and bought off Amazon a 4.50 optical audio cable to link my stereo.

Some other thoughts:

The tv is crazy light, I set it up myself (it's really just 37 lbs) so that when you can pick up a 2 yr old, you can pick up this thing.

The tv has a nice cable management feature, but I don't use it because I only 3 lines go into my TV (HDMI cable box, PS3 HDMI, optical audio output surround sound), ya, it's so awesome.

In short, you buy the tv. You can go really wrong.

A. Altman "Art" (San Carlos, California)
It was easy to set up and plays beautifully cable and DVD's.
Relatively compact size.

It has a very special feature for those who are hard of hearing: there is a sound called "clear voice" set.
It seems to increase the height information relative to the midrange and bass, and makes distinctions between sounds much sharper. For those deaf, typically good bass/midrange consulting but rolled heights, this will be a revelation. No more annoying your neighbors, because you will have to blow up the TV to understand the votes. Also seems to play the TV captioning and it.

My aunt is captioning on cable TV and use standard DVD playback and it works great. We had problems with CC to new upscaling DVD player with HDMI, however, that turns out to be a problem with the HDMI specification; HDMI supports decoding CC on the source and place the words on the screen while older cable formats and resolutions composite CC signal differs as the picture on the TV for decoding. This seems to be a big step back, but it's not the fault of the TV. If you Google "" dvd HDMI CC find a lot of conversation on the Web about this problem. No one seems to have a solution.

While you walk the long island of small HDTV's... A things stand-Out immediately of this Panasonic TV
Compared to all the other t.v.'s (which have been in a long line)... we noticed when we stayed at a "angle", the Panasonic image crisp and sharp were. "The majority of other 32" HDTV's are at an angle "washed out".
99.5% of "size all other exact" HDTV's... was from the focus or "dim".... when viewed at an angle.

This is very important (my husband and I), because this Panasonic HDTV... is always.... people show in angle. (No couch or Chair will be directly in this TV)

We saw this Panasonic model in "Three stores". "Hands down, this 32 had" Panasonic HDTV the sharpest images and best "true color"... compared to all the other 32 "HDTV. Class has in it.

This Pannasonic G25 is amazing. Clear, crisp picture. Colours are amazing compared to an LCD. She would never know the difference unless you have seen a plasma. Unfortunately a bad rap got shy Plasmas years ago and people away from you. This model (like others including Samsung) devices have built in the image storage elimination. Follow the break in the first 100 hours and you have nothing to worry about. The sound level arent bad, you probably a surround system anyways so it irrelevant. This image gets better and better, as it in breaks. All shop demos are pretty crappy and usually the Plasmas are on the page. If a good setup used stores and in the sentences incredibly chosen as many would his to sell, but most people drive the large bright LCD or LED. This tv is light and colors are unmatched. Ice hockey games and fast paced sport are crap on lcd, but on plasma quitting hockey players you can fly any sliver of ice through the air. Plasmas are less money and better picture of a lcd, why buy a lcd? I looked on the Samsung but bad rep for sums have a realllly. Get it, dial will be blown away in your settings, and.

Customer review
Incredible picture quality but with very clunky extra features.;
By Terrance McCartney (Pittsburgh, PA USA)
PICTURE

In terms of video quality, this TV is awesome. I can't imagine how the picture could be much better.

There are some minor picture quality issues with off-angle viewing (as the CNET review states), but I think CNET exaggerates the severity - it's only noticeable to me if I'm far off center.

I haven't yet noticed any blooming effects.

Setting the "judder reduction" to 10 introduces some distortion at times, but a setting of 6 smoothes out motion well without noticeable distortion. However, this varies a bit with different source material. When viewing video files via DLNA that have a lower frame rate the judder reduction setting can sometimes make things worse. But this is easy to turn off/on by source.

The color level seemed slightly off initially, even with CNET's recommended settings. For example, sometimes a blue sky would look slightly purple (i.e., too much red). But this what easily adjusted settings in the picture.

AUDIO

I don't of use the TV's audio, since I have an external speaker setup. However, the TV's audio seemed a bit bland when I tried it.

Unfortunately, digital audio output from the TV does not pass through multi-channel audio from HDMI inputs. You need to run extra digital audio cables from your DVD player and other components to your AV receiver if you'd like Dolby Digital or DTS sound.

ENERGY

I measured the electricity usage at 110 115 watts (energy saving mode at "auto", volume off, picture adjusted via CNET recommendation). Setting energy saving mode to auto doesn't seem to hurt the picture quality at all.

This is very energy efficient – it uses less power than my old 32 "CRT TV. I'm amazed at how little heat I can feel coming from the back of the set.

REMOTELY

If you have a universal learning remote, it will not be able to learn from the RF remote that comes with this TV (i.e., since standard IR remote are rather than RF). However, I called Samsung and they sent me a compatible IR remote, free of charge. With that remote I what able to program my universal learning remote. Ask for remote BN59 00851A.

BUILD QUALITY

One small build quality issue that I encountered: the plastic at the base of my TV extended a bit too far, making it impossible to fit it into the stand. I had to carving away some of the plastic in the slots of the got me a bit just to get it to fit, which made uneasy. But other than that, the build quality is fine.

MEDIA FEATURES

Viewing video files via DLNA works well, for the file types that are supported. Although I've encountered many files that the TV doesn't play for one reason or another, the ones that it does play work well. I regularly stream 1080p video files from my PC and the picture looks perfect (with wired Ethernet).

The TV has a variety of Internet and media features. But unfortunately there are lots of quality issues such as:

1. When playing video files through USB, DLNA, or Internet features, most TV controls are disabled. While you can adjust basic picture settings, you can't choose 16: 9 or 4: 3 aspect ratios. In playing NTSC video (i.e., any video that came from standard def TV, home movies, etc) from USB or DLNA, the aspect ratio is always wrong *: 16: 9 video is always squeezed too thin and 4: 3 video is always stretched too fat.

2. There is no fast forward, rewind, or chapter advance when playing video clips or movies. This is true of playing YouTube videos as well. Although there is a "skip" feature where you can jump in increments (e.g., 10 seconds), this is only available for some video files (most don't support this, in my experience).

3. As the CNET review stated the Yahoo widgets are extremely slow to start. Note that this has nothing to do with your Internet speed, since I have a 25 Mbit Internet service with wired Ethernet to the TV and it's still painfully slow. I have an HD TiVo with a lot of the same features as the Yahoo widgets, and that is far more enjoyable to use. But the one area where the Yahoo widgets outperformed TiVo what YouTube - Yahoo YouTube widget can play HD video clips as HD but TiVo plays them as SD.

4. If a media file played through DLNA (and I assume USB) has multiple audio channels, there is no way to choose which audio to play along with the video.

5. Does not support DTS audio.

I assume that these problems exist with all Samsung TVs with the media 2.0 feature. Perhaps these problems will be fixed in a future software update. If so, I'll post an update (* still no fixes to these issues as of 5/9/10 *).

Great TV, 2 July 2010
By A. Wayne (Washington, DC)
The LG 42LE5400 is my first flat-screen TV and I have had it for a few weeks now. There are reservations.

But for my eye, it is a beautiful machine-makes the toggle. I'm the kind of person, wants to look the huge TV in my living room too good, even if it is off; only Samsung sets can match this LG in the looks Department. It is almost unbelievably thin and if it is turned off it's just a cool looking black panel sits on my Entertainment Center.

Turned on, it's amazing. I have not noticed, each blur while watching sports or action, great colors, flesh tones look like meat and the black look more than sufficient. I have some out of the box with the settings-the backlight turned way, such as violin. But for me, the television's self calibration system seems to work great.

The Internet apps are pretty good if a little spare. The TV combines contacting Vudu, Netflix, YouTube and other Internet video with an Ethernet network cable plugged into my wireless router. LG sells a separate wireless receiver can plug into television, 10BaseT ditch. There are a bunch of Yahoo! "Widgets" things as you say the weather, and check stock quotes. They seem relatively useless.

So: Five stars for now. That could change the durability according to television; It is a new model so that it doesn't really have a track record.

Best value on the market, September 26, 2009
By 996driver (Valrico, FL, USA)

I looked on this set and the TC P65V10 in best buy, before I bought it here. Using same input I could no longer v10 96 hz 24 p say a tiny marginal difference in the feature and this sentence without. I looked at the 60 "KURO, and while it look better calibrated it wasn't value are more than"twice the price"premium." I could tell a difference in the price though, and back in my in-house-all I can say is, "WOW, what a picture". This performance to this Amazon price point is the value of the year on TV IMHO.

I purchased the new TC P54G10 in early September and have a 720 P 50 "TH-50PX80U model." While the TC P65S1 Panasonic so I was no THX with THX settings impressed as I thought I would be and prefer to use custom settings. I believe this is still by far the best picture of the three phrases I own. It shares the same neo PDP glass as the 54 G 10 but at 65 "that 1080 shows ability really by." Even in size 54 "I can tell the difference with the 720 sets, but this 65S1 seems like a star." I saw this Thursday night College football game on ACTIONFILM and spent more time will be amazed the image as in the game and it was a damn good game.

This set is in a large room 19' x 26', 12 "blanket with much stained glass Windows and sliding doors." The anti glare works well, really great.
You need to use the ability Netflix right from the set and add another way to fine tune image control and add to the calibration of the image.

Panasonic really knows their stuff. I can't wait until you come with a 100 "or can afford better plasma, those who are not Rap Star.

Do not hesitate to buy through Amazon!

A Fantastic Television With a Few Shortcomings, July 4, 2010
By Raul G. "Raul G." (USA)
I've spent the last 2 months researching my next television purchase. I'm one of those people that over-researches the pros and cons of any major purchase. I specifically set out at the beginning of my research to purchase a television for my finished basement. Since I can easily control ambient light pretty much any display technology was on the table - Plasma, LCD, LED-LCD, DLP, etc. I love the picture quality of DLP sets but ultimately decided to rule out that technology mainly because of the size (width) and the fact that I would eventually need to replace a bulb. I decided against traditional CCFL LCD displays too despite owning a Sharp Aquos LC46D84U. That essentially left me with LED-LCD and Plasma technology. After going back and forth I finally ended up deciding to go with Plasma. I think ultimately the deciding factors for me were the overall picture quality and cost.

I've been using my TC65S2 for about the last 2 weeks and I'm absolutely floored by the picture quality. I'm actually surprised at how much better the display looks than my Sharp Aquos. Black levels are incredibly detailed, inky-black that leaves my Aquos' display looking like it can only generate gray instead of a true black level. Out of the box the TV came on 'vivid' setting which makes colors impressively "pop" on-screen, however, it somewhat distorts flesh-tones and makes people appear a bit orange. I used my DVE HD Basics calibration disc and calibrated my TC65S2 myself. It's probably not as good as a professional calibration but I feel satisfied enough with the results.

The TV comes with additional pre-settings such as 'Cinema' and 'Game'. I've used both and I'm happy to say that the settings are actually useful. I use a PS3 for both gaming and watching Blu-ray movies. The cinema setting on BD movie playback tones down the overall brightness and gives movies a 'warm' color setting similar to movie theaters. The 'Game' setting is impressive too and maintains a good black level while increasing the overall color levels. I can honestly say that after playing God of War 3 on my Aquos and again on this set, it's like playing a different game. There are many areas in GoW3 that are extremely dark and I'm now noticing details that just weren't there with my Aquos. Everything looks cleaner, more detailed and colors are more accurate.

Aesthetically, Panasonic seems to trail Samsung, Sony and Sharp. While those companies have invested significantly in the looks over everything from their bezel to the remote, Panasonic maintains a cleaner and simpler look. Personally I don't have a problem with the subdued look - I'm more interested in the picture quality than anything else. That said the TV does have a pleasant piano-black glossy finish. That continues with the rather simple wedge-shaped stand that is included. The remote unfortunately leaves something to be desired. Perhaps most importantly it is not back-lit. Simple things like adjusting the volume in a dark room are easy due to the shape of the particular key, however, changing the input for example is not. I believe that the G-2x & VT Panasonic plasmas do offer a better & back-lit remote. After the first week or so I finally had the time to program my Harmony for my new TV and I won't miss the Panasonic remote at all.

The included television speakers are adequate but nothing impressive. Honestly, at 65" I think most folks that purchase a set like this are doing so for a home theater and have surround sound. I used the included speakers for about a day before I switched over to my home theater speakers.

Feature wise the S2 might be called "bare-bones" by some. Personally I was on the fence about getting a G25 or jumping up to the VT (3D) series. Ultimately though I think 2 things swayed me to the S2. First the size; I wanted to create a home theater setting and the G25 tops out at 54". Panasonic does make a 65" VT25 that is full-HD 3D, however, that set is around the $4000 dollar mark. With such limited 3D offerings currently on the market I just couldn't justify the price. Second, the extra bells and whistles in the more expensive sets like the G25 and VT series are nice though I'm not sure how often I'd watch YouTube videos or listen to Pandora radio on my TV. The Netflix integration is probably the best feature, however, I'm already getting that with my PS3. For someone looking for a TV with a great picture and not really interested in peripheral features, the S2 is the way to go!

Lastly, for those not aware Panasonic was recently in a bit of a scandal - at least as far as AV enthusiasts go - with their plasma sets. It seems that after varying degrees of usage Panasonic plasma TVs started losing their deep-black level. There is a lot of discussion on various AV sites about the severity of the issue but as noted by CNET's reviewing editors it does happen and it is an issue with the 2009 and earlier sets. For the S2, Panasonic is using a new Neo-PDP panel and it remains to be seen what will happen. This was an issue that nearly derailed my purchase of this set. However, after reading more into the issue and the fact that the change is gradual - not something that happens overnight - I felt like I could go ahead and make the purchase. I'll follow up in the months to come to this review and make comments as necessary. I'm hoping that with the 2010 sets Panasonic was able to mitigate the problem. Time will tell.

Other information:

- In the box this TV weighs in at 165lbs! The TV alone weighs 123lbs and 137lbs with the included stand. Be sure to have adequate help when setting up this TV! Fortunately Panasonic designed hand grips into the back of the set to make is somewhat less unwieldy.

- I've noticed that when using HDMI directly to my PS3 I can utilize some of the Viera-Link features. For example when I switch my television input to my PS3 it automatically powers on my PS3. Kind of a neat feature that I thought was only compatible with Panasonic products that are Viera-Link enabled.

- This features 3x HDMI inputs and 2x Component inputs. There are additional inputs for composite and SDHC. The S2 series lacks a lot of the additional inputs that you gain with the G2x or VT series like USB, ethernet, RS232C, PC, etc.

- For such a large plasma television, the S2 does not generate as much heat as I expected. Even after recently watching a long movie and then a World Cup soccer match the TV wasn't hot.

Time to upgrade!, 24 March 2010
By Paul Pacis (SoCal)
I have literally following prices for HDTV for about a year now and there's no better time to upgrade! Samsung has just released its new C-series and are somehow remarkably less expensive than their already existing models! The majority of sites sell this HDTV for $800 +, Amazon's lower than low price is less than the rest of the market. I bought it here at Amazon and received my HDTV in 5 days (4 days would have, but I had all day school). CEVA fact the shipping fee for my HDTV, I was careful first because I have dealt only with UPS and FedEx. However, the CEVA as you contact me and I have orally a delivery time specified provided excellent customer service. Packaging was also very efficient and surprisingly light!

For those who prefer is with TV, you need it on your own to mount. Though extremely easy to assemble! Everything took it was 9 screws (already in the box) and I recommend using a power screwdriver. It said two people directions needed, I did it solo! I was just looking forward to hook up my PS3 with HDMI cable and experience the wonderful world of 1080p.

Okay, as already before mentioned right up to my purchase was now for the special features and why this HDTV deserves a place in your living room - I extensively the quality and price of several HDTVs. The Samsung 530 550, 630, 650. Samsung-630 is the best deal for your money, here's why: the 5 series is less expensive but only offers update time of 60 Hz compared to 630 which is suited to 120 Hz. This is a big difference, and means that your HDTV with 120 Hz shows at least twice as many frames per second not only sport is very fluid and more realistic, the movies. Another difference is the response time, where as the 5 series has a 6ms response time that has 6 series a 4ms response time. And if you are a player, a difference of 2 MS can make a big difference. Why so the Samsung 630 and the 650? The only difference now is the contrast ratio. The 630 comes with a 80,000: 1 contrast ratio that created still an extraordinary depth to display in my opinion. TV of contrast ratio's will begin stable to the 70,000-100,000 range (or much higher for LEDs). While was 3 years around the highest required 10,000 but steadily. This HDTV is so much future. Yes, the 650 has a higher contrast ratio, but that it's value extra $200 just dollars?

All in all, if you are worried about the price, go all out and buy an LED HDTV. But if you want to shop smart this HDTV is the way to go.

Excellent economy HDTV, June 2, 2009
By t. Simmons "Playingpossum" (Columbia, South Carolina)
The LG 32-inch 1080p 32LH30 replaced a 720 p 32 inch Samsung I returned because of erratic sound quality. The LG offers a very clear picture for scaled DVD movies and over the air digital signals. The speakers provide excellent sound for a small living room, though the addition of a home theater system movie enjoyment would significantly increase. Standard definition signals to reproduce a stable clear picture. Colors are very good and the set provides sufficient tools to tweak the graphics for personal preference. I haven't used it for BluRay yet but HD satellite is very good. The features of this unit that exactly described on the Amazon specifications list describes its features and can be claimed. I am not hard core cinema/video buff, but I can't imagine that this device will meet most viewers want a well priced of medium-sized flat-screen high-definition TV. My five stars based on what I designed in a similar way and prices expect units for a smaller room.

Sharp image quality to build with iPod. SD card and PC inputs, 27 March 2010
By SIM fan (Denver CO USA)
I bought three new 32-inch LCD TV in a week, and the first two due to the faulty video inputs returned. The third TV I bought is this high-quality, Panasonic TC L32X2 TV, released in February 2010. My experience allowed me three similar TV, giving me good insight to write this review to compare.

I bought two other 32 inch LCD TV; a Vizio VO320E and a Sony BRAVIA-BX-300-series (model KDL 32BX300). I returned both of you because of the identical video input problems. I connected two different brands of DVD players to any TV, and when I played DVDs were alternating horizontal stripes of discoloration on the screen indicates a problem with the video inputs on your TV. I returned both TV to the retailer as both this DVD player perfect on two other TVs in my house, including a one-year-old Panasonic Plasma worked.

Then I bought the Panasonic TC L32X2 listed here. After the initial Setup, the first thing I tested the video output from a DVD player, and was to find that the video with no stripes of discoloration as on the other two television was sharp and clear, makes it easy. Then I flipped channels from a direct cable TV input (no cable box) and TV out was excellent as well and definitely better than the other two TV I had to return. The build of the TV was noticeably better quality than the other two televisions. The remote control has many features and doesn't come cheap (such as those that came with another two TV).

This Panasonic TC L32X2 TV comes with a cable TV input, a set of component video inputs (red/blue/green-video and audio red/white), two sets of three HDMI inputs, one PC Input, composite video inputs (red/white/yellow), an iPod dock with connection cable and rear entrance, an SD card camera input and a Dolby digital audio output.

Fantastic video, 30 March 2010
Tbone (California)
The picture on this TV was breathtaking directly out of the box. It was as close as I could imagine to perfect after a few minor adjustments. It came with Panel SQ01, and it would be difficult to distinguish the color depth and quality of some of the plasma sets, I saw. The TV is in a very bright room and the matte screen cuts glare without image degradation. The angle of view is very good, although we are never more than 25 to 30 degrees from the Centre. The image is very stable with no change in the backlight from channel to channel, that I can see, and the standard definition picture is almost def if you the image format 16: 9-use. There are separate settings for processing speed and anti rahvin motion blur if both settings in one combine the custom view mode to use, in contrast to the majority of records. I see a lot of sport and really not so its notice motion blur at 60 hz certainly no problem at 120 hz. I'm no gamer, so I see no need for my viewing habits, more for a 240 hz option to spend. The sound is very good for normal TV viewing. It can be connected to a home network and I have also hooked up to my laptop using the VGA connection Netflix to see also produces an acceptable SD picture. There are several image settings, you can use just about any programming source, including watch 120 hz without the "soap opera" effect that some people find so annoying to meet. There are 4 HDMI and 2 USB ports and a headphone. There are no S video, you need to link cable to older devices may. UVerse is programming.

One thing about settings. On the first evening the picture suddenly got much darker and although I would reset the brightness, I would leave it again dark once the menu. I spoke with Samsung and had no idea why this happened. It turns out the set automatically adjusts the picture to your room brightness in the default view mode, which is the default setting. You can do this in the eco section of the image menu to go never change below a certain level of brightness, or you can turn it off completely. This is not a problem if all to use different display mode.

The last time I bought a LCD, I, went on to look around in case I found something better. This will be the case of this time as I am quite happy. Pilot was sold by Amazon. Time, set the TV and pivoting stand and had everything to work in 5-10 minutes.

The best buy in high definition TV?, June 12, 2010
Opinunated (USA)
What to buy a great this HDTV is. I paid $469.00 (incl. postage) for this 2010 42 "Panasonic Plasma."

I own a 58 "Panasonic 1080p plasma, which was best evaluated by CNET in 2008." In fact, told CNET, it was the very best HDTV, had tested this year and awarded Editors choice

I see very little difference between this low prices 42 "Panasonic and my $3000.00 above on line 58" Panasonic 1080p.

For a number of reasons, I would suggest you consider buying a plasma TV and if you can live without some bells and whistles I would recommend buying this exact model.

(1) 720 p versus 1080p: this is a 720 p HDTV - I'm not, it makes much difference when compared to a set of 1080. While the public has its attention to the obvious numerical difference between 720 and 1080 concentrated and assumed that the larger number was always better--is this - in the practical Sinne--not always the case. With smaller TV the difference can be detected between 720 p and 1080 not easy, if you sit up on the TV. Professional reviews have always exact same said. Because the public perception - 720 p TV are always a die bred and offer a unique buying opportunity. 720 p shows process 1080 signals without any problem as one 1080 display processes 720 p signals without effort. People forget to send the most Xbox and PlayStation games as well as ALL of the content on ABC, FOX and ESPN in 720 p.

(2) Viewing angle - indicated almost every LCD of a poorer image from among the members. CNET, HD Guru, display materials, consumer reports, etc, that note you like image quality degrades if a LCD from an angle is displayed. In some cases produced just sit a seat cushion from the ideal sweet spot of a much poorer image on a LCD. Plasmas had never show a problem with off center. No matter where you sit you see the same image on a plasma.

(3) Movement: this is an another perimeter that are inherently when view movement superior way too much importance in the specification has been wars - Plasmas. LCDs at 120 HZ or better are pretty good with movement but never quite the equal of Plasmas. What is interesting, to remember is that reviews say it's not likely anyone can see the difference in every day display (as opposed to test pattern). The end result is that Plasmas are better with motion handling, but even the worst LCD is probably well from seeing most non sports audiences.

(4) Black level. How is black the specification is black, the plasma fans love to quote. The black of the most Plasmas are far darker than that of a typical LCD, although local dimming LED/LCD sets close if not are equal. This C2 Panasonic is no exception, and also in my bedroom with all the lights out, the black are very, very dark indeed. Panasonic's, have been criticized in the past because black levels increase in the course of time, but the black remain generally darker than LCDs, after you have increased. An open question is whether the 2010 Panasonic's have even this problem.

(5) Reflections: the C2 has a shiny glass screen behind a dark background is. It reflects any bright objects, which are pretty good. View program material, which is pretty you'll be dark in nature, are these considerations under. These reflections be visible light program material.

(6) Brightness: plasma are not too bright. If you plan view is your TV in every room with a fair amount of ambient light then a plasma HDTV probably not the best choice.

I would recommend a LCD display your TV in a medium to light room. LCD screens are often brighter than Plasmas. If you are concerned about the reflections a LCD with a matte screen would be a wise choice. Unfortunately matte screens are always becoming increasingly rare on LCDs and never Plasmas available.

While other Panasonic's more bells and whistles offer and technical performance better, I really think this model of the value leader in HDTV - is given its low price. If you are willing to spend a dollar over look the S2 series of Panasonic's (latest 1080p Panasonic Panel for more inputs and according to the manufacturer - better anti-reflective screen) or do you have to spend even more money - G series. The VT25 series is the top of the line, but prices start up $2,000.00

Very recommended for or under $500.00. I would recommend the S2 Panasonic or about $600.00.

Impressive TV and good sound, March 10, 2010
By Adam Thompson
About me: First HDTV, but I'm an electrical/software engineer, I have a high level of technical ability, with a low expectations. I have micro analysis which TV to buy for far too long. I attended CES 2009 and 2010 and have seen from all of the new TV coming (probably why I so long wait kept). This is the perception of this review was written.

I got this TV yesterday and saw it for most of the evening. Very good picture! I was given of the LG55lh40 but my wife after the Samsung LN55B650 view side by side with the LG at best buy and I realized there was little competition. We had the tech best let's mess with the settings to buy, for about half an hour (starting with the auto calibration of LG) but it looks right could get compared with the Samsung. I was pretty excited when I saw many great reviews about the LG and it was a much cheaper price. Sign in to Amazon I noticed the LN55C650 on sale for $1620 (even cheaper than last years Serie B) was but had no reviews, so I was a little nervous to order it. In hindsight 20/20 and I is definitely the right choice. The image is very clear and has the crisp look, the Samsung is famous.

My surround sound system is last night, so I stuck was today delivered with the built-in speaker. I was very impressed from pump from the sound, this thing could. I varied the sound from 25 to 50 (of 100) and it was nicely filled more than according to enough and the room. This is not comparable with a nice sound system, but compared to every other TV I heard, it is definitely there up in sound functions.

Look, I think that is much better than last years B650 wisely. I took care of me for the red touch of color that surround the whole TV. This model seems only centered the Red at the bottom, and it adds a really beautiful accent without overpowering, as I felt last year were. This is just a personal opinion.

Cons:
The 120 HZ feature that strongly deplores in the LN55B650 still suffers. The first thing I did when I the TV was the Dark Knight BD (1080p) on my PS3 with a v1. 3 Cat2 HDMI cable to see. I thought that was something wrong with how it was background with movement very strange things, but turning the 120 HZ feature turn the image perfectly cleaned and I notice not more problems, while watching it.. I tried all had the same problem on the 120 HZ modes and all. In other words, I turned it back on while HDTV (720 p obviously) and it seems very clean with 120 HZ.

Is it 2010 and set you can not yet a wireless radio integrated television? I think this is too ridiculous that you buy a separate module, to get wireless. My router is very far away from my TV and will have expensive added it to network cable.

I'll update this if I notice other problems.

WOW. Amazing LED set!, April 5, 2010
F. Fernández "BrokenFern" (Valencia, CA)
First off I want to be clear about the way this should be. I am no professional TV raters. I'm no videophile. I'm a regular Joe and I'm reviewing this for the regular Joe, thinking about spending more than usual on a good quality television. During the next months, I am sure you can find a professional review of the usual places... But now this is my impressions.

CORNER LIGHT: After read many reviews of past years B8000 and I was worried about the light issuing from the corners of this year's C7000. I've seen shows last year's B8000 and this year's C7000 and very easy to see what people are talking about. I took a big gamble in buying this TV before I read when people with this C8000 were problems. Let me say... After this TV for about 5 hours per day for 3 days... I have not seen, the light comes from the edges like on other sets. And believe you me I was looking for. I tried it just the HD feed from time Warner Cable, Blu-ray from the PS3 Blu-ray's from Samsung 3D Blu-ray player, especially at night, during the day to find... Nothing. I just don't see it!

LOOKS: This TV is just amazing. It has a very dark black screen. It looks so nice, disabled, because it is not on. I was nervous about the brush metal look, but it actually looks very nice and compliments chrome the new four-legged stand.

Image: The clarity of the image looks incredibly. It's like if I discover for the first time HD am. This set replaces a Samsung DLP set, so of course is this a huge improvement. Having said that I have a newer plasma in the bedroom and this set looks much better than that. As with all new LED sets with 240 Hz it's Spanish soap opera home video look to it a bit. Some people really like this, some people don't. I really like it. For those of you who don't, you can disable this feature or always down. For me, this makes the image look very clear, and it makes it stand out from the other sets.

3D: with this TV I bought Samsung 3D Blu-ray player, so that I can get the 3D-Start-Kit for free. The 3D function switch on and connect the glasses was easy. The intro to monsters v. aliens was very cool. The opening looked incredibly scene in space. The ball at some paddle bound was somewhat directly made me funny and somehow. I've spent too much time with 3D, but I've noticed that some scenes were there in the movie a duplicate image with the wear the glasses had. It's not much but it is noticeable. You can immediately see scene this during the Church at the beginning of the film. It was a bit annoying. I'm hoping that the kind of stuff that gets ironed out with a Firmwear update or more content is shared, you learn this, to fix it.

OnlineTV: This is a very new area for me. I've never understood the need for me to want to apps on my TV... But its actually Kina cool. I tried a few apps, but my favorite by far is the Pandora app. I am a big fan of Pandora and this app I actually better like on my TV than online or the iPhone. The only thing I hate is that Samsung have built not WiFi. I think this set prices to the $3000 + mark should enough to add it with the set and do not require an another $80 for the USB adapter to delete me. I just wired, but thats a different wire I may not deal with.

USB: I wanted to point out that this sentence can connect an external USB hard drive and play music, photos and movies directly from your hard disk. I have a Western Digital 320, the GB passport with movies and music filled, and I was able to easily navigate the structure of files in the drive with the remote control. And it all file formats, I threw it played.

Pros:
No corner light!
Very dark screen.
Very clear picture
Pandora Samsung app
3D was surprisingly fun
External USB hard drive capable
and... NO CORNER LIGHT!

Cons:
Easy duplicate images in 3D.
WiFi is a $80 USB adapter required.

Overall I am very happy with the UN55C8000. Even with the few CONS, this sentence to this average Joe is a definite 5 stars! How to I spend more time with the set I'll be sure to update this report if I find something worth mentioning.

Please feel free to ask me and I will try my best to answer you. I know how nerve wrecking purchase such a big ticket item. This is... So I would be happy to help as much as I can.

Top dollar, top quality TV, June 8, 2010
By S. Patel (LongView, Texas, USA)
Got the LG55LE8500 about 3 weeks ago. So far I'm very happy with the TV. Nothing looks HD and Blu-ray is just incredible. Black is black on this tv and colours are exactly. as great as this tv is, its consumption forecast have analog cable to the TV not very well at all on this set look. the screen is a borderless glass screen can be pretty reflective during dark scenes especially if one very well illuminated you have room. also see some horizontal banding(lines) across the screen to light blue background backdrop at times. Some people go to through this disturbed, others don't care or even notice. overall this tv will be the second best model of LG. LED tvs and lives up to it. its not going the cheapest of TV but price compared to equivalent Samsung models are worth it as far as build and image quality.
